Mission: Stronger Schools Start at Home
At the PTSA, our mission is to build stronger schools by strengthening the connection between home and school. We believe that when families, students, and educators work together, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it continues at the kitchen table, in daily conversations, and through shared goals.
“Stronger Schools at Home” means:
Empowering parents and caregivers with tools to support learning.
Encouraging students to take ownership of their education beyond the school day.
Partnering with teachers to reinforce classroom values at home.
Creating a united community where every child thrives—academically, socially, and emotionally.
By aligning efforts across home and school, the PTSA helps build a foundation where students succeed, families feel connected, and schools grow stronger from the inside out.
PTSA stands for Parent Teacher Student Association. It's a school-based organization that brings together parents, teachers, and students to work collaboratively on improving the educational experience and school environment.
What does a PTSA do?
Advocacy: Promoting policies that benefit students at the school, district, and sometimes even state or national level.
Community Building: Organizing events (e.g., family nights, fundraisers, cultural celebrations) that foster a sense of school community.
Fundraising: Raising money to support school programs, extracurriculars, technology, field trips, teacher grants, and more.
Volunteering: Coordinating volunteers to support teachers, run events, or improve school facilities.
Student Voice: In a PTSA (unlike a PTA), students are members too, giving them a formal voice in decision-making and leadership.
Why does it matter?
It empowers all stakeholders—parents, families, teachers, and students—to collaborate.
It enhances student achievement by building strong school communities.
It supports educators through resources and appreciation.
It advocates for student needs at various levels of government or school administration.
It gives students leadership opportunities (in a PTSA), helping develop civic engagement and responsibility.
